Undergraduate research opportunity
Eastern Uganda is a landscape that supports one of the highest densities of rural farmers in Africa and is home to many endangered and vulnerable wildlife populations. This project explores the link between rural livelihoods, soils, food security, and conservation in Uganda. The principal investigators on this project have collected social and biophysical data from eastern Uganda and are currently recruiting two CU Boulder undergraduate students to assist in managing and analyzing data and improving our understanding of the system. This project aims to better understand how farmers cope with changing environments, and how this impacts wildlife, food security, and human health. Students will have the opportunity to explore data from household surveys on livelihoods, health and well being, nutrition, and daily activities. Students will also learn about the broader Ugandan landscape including national parks and protected areas, wildlife, and conservation.
